Packrat Pallette Prep

Oiling a wood pallette added to the list of things I didn’t know that I didn’t know how to do. Over the years I’ve used many different types of pallettes. Glass, Plexi, Masonite, paper… This wood pallette came with a French easel that lived in my garage, new and unused for ages. I’m not quite sure where it came from. It subsequently went through three moves with me before I opened it up a couple of months ago. Tim, my partner/accomplice/ride-or-die and fellow artist, convinced me to try using the easel. He suggested I give the wood pallette a go. I don’t have formal training as an artist. I considered art school when I was young, but I was frankly afraid I’d go and find out I had no talent. I’ve muddled my way through for years, doing everything the hard way. Now, having a partner with training has been eye opening. I had no idea what I didn’t know. I’ve learned two things from this. First, that surrounding yourself with the right people can make a huge difference. Second, that I AM TOTALLY JUSTIFIED IN MY PACKRAT WAYS! Never throw anything away! Not your love of art, nor that weird easel that you’ve been hanging on to for years for no apparent reason.
